Specific Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
Define Agricultural mechanization
List six problems of Agricultural mechanization
Explain four problems of Agricultural mechanization
List five advantages of farm mechanism
Agricultural Farm Mechanization
This is the use of farm machineries, chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers and improved seeds in the farm.
The use of all these material in the farm generate problems. Problems of Agricultural Mechanization
The use of farm machineries is expensive.
Some of the chemicals may kill human beings
A lot of damages are done to the soil structure
Agricultural mechanization causes pollution
There is high cost of spare parts of farm machineries
It heads to unemployment
Topography of the land affect farm mechanization
Farmer (some farmers);- are not well educated to carry out the needed operations
Advantages of Agricultural Mechanization
It saves of labour
It increases production
Agricultural Mechanization helps in processing and preservation
It also promotes specialization
It encourages large scale production
Farm mechanization helps to reclaim land
It increases farmers’ income
It spends up farm operation
It minimizes losses
Agricultural Mechanization helps to promote standard of living
Summary
Farm Mechanization is the use of machineries, pesticides, herbicides, chemical and fertilizers in our farm. However, there are problems associated with it. This problems include:- it is expensive. The chemicals can kill, low level of farmers’ education, pollution, and high cost of spare parts, unemployment and damages to soil structure.
Whatever has problem may has advantages like it saves labour/time, increases product, helps to reclaim land, increases farmers’ income and promote standard of living.
